The Royal Asiatic Society Hong Kong Branch

Friends of the RASHKB

A Friends group, established in the U.K. in 1998 by several former members of the Society in Hong Kong, has 74 members (as at December 2004). Recent events include:

A weekend visit to Durham, including guided tours of Durham University Oriental Museum, Durham Cathedral, the University Botanic Garden and the Bowes Museum
a visit to the British Empire and Commonwealth Museum in Bristol and the Museum of East Asian Art in Bath, U.K
a joint lecture with the Royal Society for Asian Affairs on Sino-British Training of Chinese KMT Guerrillas (1941-45).

Regular events include:

a Chinese New Year lunch in London's Chinatown (always very popular!)
AGM, held in June, followed by a lecture.

Regular meetings are held at the School of Oriental and African Studies of London University in Russell Square.
