Annual General Meeting of the Friends of the Royal Asiatic Society Hong Kong Branch followed by a talk by Mr. Brian McElney, founder of the Museum of East Asian Art, Bath

  • Royal Asiatic Society 14 Stephenson Way London, England, NW1 2HD United Kingdom (map)

Please find the agenda for our AGM on 14th April here and the Minutes of last year’s AGM here, which Eric has kindly prepared.  Please note the AGM will start promptly at 2:00 pm preceded by lunch at Chutneys at 12:30 pm.

As you know, this meeting will be crucial to the future or otherwise of the Friends.  Please do come if you possibly can and give your support to enable the most enjoyable gatherings of the Friends to continue.  Paul will stand down as Chairman and Bernadette will stand down as Hon. Treasurer, and we thank them both for the excellent work they have done in these roles for many years.  We are delighted that we have a volunteer for the role of Treasurer in Florence Cantle but we still need a Chairman – this can easily be shared between two members so there is no onus on one person to attend each meeting, and involves hosting the speaker at lunch and introducing and thanking him.  Others on the committee will continue to help with finding speakers and the admin.

Following the AGM, Brian McElney, who amassed a very important collection of Asian art while he lived for many years in Hong Kong and subsequently founded the Museum of East Asian Art in Bath , will give a lecture on the story of his collection.

We look forward to seeing you there.
