RAS Re-Use

RAS Re-Use is a new Special Interest Group which has been formed within the Royal Asiatic Society (Hong Kong Branch) to focus on the adaptive reuse of old buildings.

The group aims to identify, experience and comment on the increasing number of old buildings in Hong Kong which are being given interesting and viable new uses.  Our scope is not confined to just the more historic structures– we will also look at other adapted buildings, such as factories, warehouses, offices and municipal buildings.

This is a fascinating subject, so we want members to thoroughly enjoy their involvement with the group.  No deep commitments are expected, other than to turn up for our visits, benefit from the event and perhaps exchange ideas.

Wherever possible we will advise on our activities through the RAS Newsletter.  We may however sometimes organize events on a more immediate and informal basis.  For this reason we ask those who are interested to provide details for our separate members database, so that we can make contact using telephone, email, fax and social media.
