Local Visit - Guided Tour to Ex-Sham Shui Po Service Reservoir (aka Bishop Hill Reservoir)

  • Berwick Street Kowloon Hong Kong SAR China (map)

The Ex-Sham Shui Po Service Reservoir (Ex-SSPSR), aka Bishop Hill Reservoir, was accorded a Grade 1 historical building status by the Antiquities Advisory Board in June 2021.

The Water Supplies Department (WSD) has been launching guided tours of the service reservoir with a view to enhance public’s understanding of the historical background and appreciate the internal structure of the Ex-SSPSR, so as to increase public’s awareness on conservation of historic waterworks building and heritage.

Located underground, the structure reflects the romantic ancient Roman attitudes to architecture.  Its remarkable structure offers a precious glimpse of Hong Kong’s water supply history over the past hundred years.
