You may not know Wen Su, but you must have heard about Puyi, the last emperor. Here is the Hanlin from Qing dynasty who had been with the emperor from the very beginning, and who could have changed the course of history. In 1929 Wen joined The University of Hong Kong where he completed four volumes of notes on philosophy. During his long periods in the Hanlin Academy, he regularly wrote to his sons. These letters shed light on the personal side of one of the most senior officials of that era, and are made available for the first time.

Francis Wann (雲中燕) is a producer, photographer, editor and teacher. He has a PhD in Semiotics and is the author of THE OTHER WEN SU (溫肅別傳), and the translator/editor of the poetry anthology LET IT BE by Lujah. He is an occasional feature writer for Leica International.
